a model (noun) -
a. an copy of something that looks and works like the real thing, that you can use to help you build more copies
b. a representation of a system being used that can copied by others (for example an economic or political model)
c. a good example for others to follow
to model x on y (verb) - to make x so it is similar to y, to immitate y when you are making x
