In effect, effective

in effect (adjective) - an official law, regulation, or contract currently exists and is being used

effective (adjective) - [same meaning as "in effect" however the most common meaning for "effective" is "getting a job done"]

come into effect, take effect - the law or rule has officially began


Example sentences:

* New foreign exchange regulations will come into effect next month.

* The recommendations will soon be put into effect.

* Some laws from before World War II are still in effect.

* The central bank has cut interest rates with immediate effect.

* Our new refund policies will be effective as of the first of the year.

* The discount is not effective until you make your first purchase.

* Until the Bank receives effective notification the Principal Cardholder will be liable and subject to any charges made to the card.

* Please mail a letter explaining your problem and indicating the date on which your insurance coverage with us became effective.

* All provisions in the previous contract will remain effective.

* The terms that are being added to the contract today will become effective immediately.
