Exempt

exempt (adj) - does not have to follow a rule

"x is exempt from y" means "y is a rule that x is not required to follow"

exemption (noun) -
* Employer provided health insurance is exempt from taxation.


Example sentences:

* Hutch considers itself exempt from foreign holding rules.

* Those products are exempt from the agreement.

* The Foreign Office says Britain is exempt from a European Community ban on high level visits to Peking.

* He was exempt from the draft because he was blind in one eye.

* Foreign companies investing in Thailand are often exempt from taxes for several years.

* His trust fund was exempt from federal income taxes.

* The organisation was in danger of losing its tax-exempt status.

* Small companies will be exempted from the requirements.

* Their personal possessions qualified for an exemption from customs duties.

* Taxpayers are entitled to exemptions on their income tax for their charitable contributions.

* If you were attending college during the Vietnam War, you were exempt from military service.

* Senior citizens on Medicare are automatically exempt from the charge.

* This exemption applies to home-owners only.
