Globalization of Services Blog (University of Michigan)

The Globalization of Services Blog at The William Davidson Institute (WDI) at the University of Michigan "brings together a community of academics, business & policy practitioners, journalists, professionals and individuals interested in the phenomenon of increasing trade in services." It is a community site where "individuals from around the world are welcome to participate in the discussion and express their points of view. " Here is the statement of purpose from their website:

"Lowering of tariffs and trade barriers, and rapid advances in technology has fuelled increased global trade and financial integration. In particular, digitization of information, expanded bandwidth availability and increasing managerial capability to co-ordinate complex value chains is accelerating trade in services. Companies can now tap into the global talent pool, and offshore services range from routine call centers to higher value analytical research activities. This has created new opportunities and challenges for organizations and policy makers in both developed and developing countries."

"This blog provides a platform for an informed discussion of opportunities, challenges, academic research, experiences and best practices related to increasing trade in services. Leading thinkers from industry, academia and media with rich experiences and insight in this topic will initiate discussions with the larger WDI community across the world. It will enable a learning community where members can connect virtually to create linkages, learn and share experiences and collaborate. Over time we will explore ways to capture collective wisdom of these discussions and points of views, and derive insights from them for the community."
