International coverage of the GT200 and similar devices
BBC report starts things offA BBC newsnight programme broadcast several weeks ago was really the beginning of end of Thailand's use of the GT200 substance detector. Although it focused on another device, the ADE651, the two are so similar that doubts about the GT200 very quickly emerged. In fact, the BBC team also looked into the GT200 but there wasn't enough time to include in the original program. They did, however, post a report on their website. It includes a video clip of an explosive expert opening one of the GT200 detector cards, finding nothing but paper.
Thailand's test results are big news around the world
BBC: As a result of the Thai testing programme, the BBC broadcast a second programme on the GT200 and similar devices, asking why the British government hasn't banned them from sale throughout the world. It is a very hard-hitting report and I have made a transcript of it which I have put together with the BBC video. If you need Thai subtitles, click here. For the same Thai version that you can cut and paste, click here. Also, if Spanish is your preferred language, click here.
CNN: CNN had a somewhat shorter report and you can find the video and transcript here. Thai subtitles are included, making it really easy to understand.
Reuters: If you have gone through either the latest BBC or CNN report, this Reuters report will be no problem for you.
